Hello fellow Nintendo fan people. Long time lurker, first time poster.
I recently secured my pre-order for the Switch over at my local Wal-Mart, and, like most of you, I'm essentially spending every waking moment day dreaming about the console. I've become so Nintendo obsessed in this last week, that I've been going back and showing my Wii U and 3DS some extra love lately.
I've always been one to support Nintendo. I had a Nintendo Power subscription for years (until they sadly ceased production) and I've essentially owned every handheld since the original Gameboy, and every console since the GameCube (I can thank my parents for both of those). I even camped out the night before the Wii U's launch just so I could walk away with one.
My question comes with this. In showing my 3DS some extra love, I realized that I still have plenty to complete and play. Animal Crossing: New Leaf, Kirby: Planet Robobot, The Legend of Zelda (Ocarina of Time and Link Between Worlds), Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon, and several others, including Super Smash Bros. However, when it comes to the Wii U, that need to sit and play through the games I have simply is not there anymore.
I own Splatoon (single player mode finished, occasionally play online), Super Mario 3D World (completely finished), SSB Wii U (every character and nearly every collectible unlocked), NSMB U (also played to completion, including the Luigi levels), ZombiU (never really held my interest that much), Mario Kart 8 (every Grand Prix finished, every character unlocked), Nintendoland (not to harp, but I was over those mini games rather quickly), and Super Mario Maker, which is the only game that brings me back due to it being a new experience every time I play, but even now, that's available on 3DS.
With the Switch right around the corner, and several (expensive) accessories and games I would like to buy (an extra Joy-Con set, a Pro controller, Zelda: BOTW, 1 2 Switch) I was wondering if I would completely betray Nintendo if I sold my Wii U and games and put the money towards pre-ordering these items? Just to ensure that I have them on launch day without breaking the bank.
TL;DR: Is it considered betrayal if I sell my Wii U and games to put towards accessories and games for a new Nintendo console?
