How accepted is mobile gaming (especially handheld gaming) in your country? Can Switch change the overall thinking?

My hope is that handheld gaming becomes more important with the Nintendo Switch in Germany. In Japan we've seen lots of people young and old playing with their DS, 3DS and Vita. I also met many people through street pass in Tokyo and Kyoto. In Germany on the other hand I feel uncomfortable when playing 3DS in the train because there's no one else. I hope Switch can change that and can bring people together with quick rounds of Mario Kart or splatoon or what else.
