So, this isn't some big heart-warming story or anything, but I thought I'd share it with you guys.
Yesterday was my birthday, and while I still enjoy them, it's been a while since I've really been excited for or surprised by a present (that includes Christmas too). My roommates know I've been excited for the Switch, and some of them are pretty excited for Zelda, enough that one of them paid me to preorder it on Amazon for us. I had been considering getting a Pro Controller, but I figured it probably wasn't worth the $70 just yet since I won't need more than the two Joy-Con for multiplayer until the fall. Plus, preorders had sold out online for all I knew, so I figured I could just buy it when it comes back in stock.
Anyway, for my birthday, my friends threw a party, which was nice, but then inside their envelope to me was a paper. On the paper was a picture of the Pro Controller and a note saying they had preordered it. I was pretty surprised, since I wasn't sure how they had been able to snag a preorder. They got it from Gamestop, which must have sold out quickly since where I live (Utah) is the Switch Hype Capital of the World according to Google (it's either there or Nunavut Province in Canada).
To sum up my feelings, this is the first time in a long time that I've been genuinely surprised by and excited for a present in a very long time, and I'm really grateful that my roommates did this for me. I'm still not sure how they knew that Pro Controllers were in stock (maybe one of them uses this subreddit?), but I have one preordered now. I get my Switch and Zelda on the 3rd, and the controller comes on the 6th!
P.S. You can share any of your nice stories regarding the Switch below if you'd like, I always like it when people post about how the Switch helps people share goodwill or whatever.
