I had this idea after replying to a post about how the 3DS will be dead because of the Switch. Obviously the 3DS will be supported for a few more years but what will they do after that? I think they may try to cram Switch hardware into a smaller form factor to make it more portable like the DS line but give it limited functionality.
For example, it won't have removable joy cons or split screen gameplay. It also would not be able to connect to the TV directly but can connect to the Switch as a controller of sorts. Not sure if this is actually possible since many games may not work without certain features but I thought it was a cool idea. Guess we'll have to wait a few years to find out what they do!
